Morgan J Ingram: Welcome to the 1Up Formula podcast and I'm going to be your host, Morgan J Ingram here. And this podcast is going to be for people who are looking to one- up their lives, both professionally and personally. And on this podcast, who's the audience? You're probably wondering that already. It's going to be for founders, hustlers, creators, innovators, and we're going to be talking to those same individuals about their personal, 1Up formulas and what they do outside of work that makes them successful in their lives and career. Now, before we dive into episode one, I want to talk about what inspired me to start this new podcast. Now, some of you listening in probably have been in a sales training that I've done or you watched my previous podcasts and YouTube channel and listen to it, The SDR Chronicles, which put me on the map on LinkedIn, and you've maybe seen some of my content on LinkedIn that's solely focused on sales. However, I want to do something completely different. I'm not just a sales guy. My mentor, Roger Jefferson said something so important to me. He said, "Hey, sales is what you do, it's not who you are." And that really hit home with me. And ever since then, I've been finding ways to learn different techniques and skills outside of sales to be a better person. But there's so much more that's happening outside of our sales job. And there's different hobbies, there's different relationships that we have, there's different habits that we do that make us better at our job yet we don't talk about them as much and I feel like we need to have more of a focus there. And so what got me interested in this idea of one- upping your life was learning from industry leaders outside of sales, that was a big part of it. However, that's not the only reason. It had to do from gaming. So if you've been following me on LinkedIn for past couple of months, I've been posting about video games. So PlayStation 2, X- Box, PC, Game Boy Advance. Shout out to Pokemon, right? I've been talking about gaming for a while. And even right now, I'm really big into Assassin's Creed, Valhalla, and part of it Assassin's Creed franchise, if you've played that game, is just all about one- upping yourself. You start off with a game with nothing, and then as you progress, you upgrade your skills, you upgrade your gear, you upgrade your outfit, right? And you look awesome by the end of the game. But at the beginning you look like a scrub. And so that's what this podcast is going to be about is how do you one- up your life? We one- up in games, but how do you want up in real life? And I want to dig deep into what successful people are doing right now and how they're doing it, and how they're able to constantly reach new levels in their careers and in their lives, and how you're also capable of doing that as well. Because I know it's possible as long as you have a growth mindset. Now, if you have a fixed mindset and you don't believe you can grow, this isn't for you. You might as well stop listening to this. But if you have a growth mindset and you're like," I want to be more than what I am today," you should tune in to what we're going to be doing here. And I'm going to be doing a lot of the application here. So how is this all going to work? Like I said earlier, we're going to be talking to founders, hustlers, creators, and innovators on what they do outside of work that makes them thrive. Like, what is their one- up formula that they aren't talking about on social or that you're not hearing about? And I always love hearing how someone got their first opportunity or how someone got their first round of funding for their company or how someone first got their big deal that they close when they were, maybe they went from," Hey, I just started off in an entry- level role in sales and I became enterprise." Or you just started off as a marketer specialist and five years later now you're the VP of marketing. Like, how did they get there? It wasn't just working all day long, there were other things they were doing outside out of that. So you all probably heard a lot of career strategies, there's a lot of podcasts on that, but what we're going to be talking about is: what is your daily routine? How are you getting into your fitness? What are you doing in your spiritual life? How do you do meditation? Maybe we'll talk about how someone listened to the TI album back in the day and it inspired them. Maybe they listen to some Nas and they were like," Oh, Illmatic, that changed my life." We want to hear about these things. These are moments that you don't ever uncover from people unless you know them genuinely. And again, that's what we're looking to do here. My goal is for everyone to walk away with tactics that allow them to live their best lives based on formulas. If you've been following me for a while, you know I'm all about formulas. Like, what are The formulas for success? And if you have those formulas for success then you're going to be so much better off at the end of the day. However, in order to do that, we have to have a focus on breaking through the noise in our lives, breaking through the noise in our careers, and making sure we can break through the noise in our head because there's a lot of negative stuff out there. You all know that. 2020 was a lot of stuff. And so we're going to talk about: how do you move forward to break through that noise? How do you have 1Up formulas that you can apply immediately after the podcast? If you've followed me for a while, you know I'm a very tactical person so you know you're not going to get fluff here, and we're going to help you all level up your mindset. Now it's not just going to be about you all, it's also going to be about me doing this too. I've never seen this concept done on a podcast. Everyone does interviews but no one ever does talks about what they did from the advice they got from the person they interviewed. So I'm going to be doing something where I will be implementing the formulas and advice that our guests give. And I will tell you in real-time how that all works. Now, some of them, I may come back on an episode and be like, "Guys, this is awful. This did not help me whatsoever." Or I could be like, "This changed my life, and here's how." Again, I've never seen anyone do this with their podcast. So I'm excited to go on this journey and you got all be able to follow me and you'll see," Okay. Wow. That's really awesome you're doing that," or," Oh, okay. You did that? Yeah, we all knew that was not going to be good for you." Right? But you guys are going to hear it here in real- time. I'm going to be very transparent with you all, as you know. Now, how do you make sure that you're going to get all of this information? I would say every single time you get on this podcast, bring a notebook. This is really key. And make sure that you execute on this stuff just like I am. The thing is, I'm going to be on this journey with you all so it's not going to be me saying," Hey, go do this." No, I'm doing it too. So we're all in this together and we're going to build a community around this. So, also as well, as I do these episodes, please give me genuine, honest feedback.
